House Church

Why House Churches?

Here is a new video explaining 4 hallmarks of house churches and why house churches are relevant for today. Many people don’t realize that the church met in homes for over 400 years since it’s birth. Even though the church was persecuted, it was not under strict suffering until about late 297 A.D. under the Emperor Nero. Until then, the church actually had significant times of favor with all the people (Acts 2:47, 2:44) and could have obtained property or built church buildings if they wanted to…but they didn’t. Take a look at our video and find out more information about this true apostolic model of church ministry which Paul, Jerusalem and other churches were patterned after.

This is great. We are missionaries from Africa to Eastern Europe in a country that is predominately secular Islamic and as we have been praying we as a family feel that this is the way to go. This has helped bring further understanding and has, interestingly enough, come at a time I was praying concerning how to proceed and how to impact the community we are in. Confirmation at its best.

What a beautiful description of house churches!! I think there is one aspect of house churches that is under-appreciated that I would love to hear your perspective on, and that is discipleship. I believe that house churches epitomize the depth of discipleship. Great post, friend! Linda S 🙂

very true Linda. I think we've realized of the past couple years that Jesus didn't say "Go into all the world and start churches…" he obviously said to make followers, disciples. Church seems to be what happens when discipleship is taking place within a group of people. Another aspect of discipleship to highlight is multiplication. House churches are easily multiplied.
